Bolt is sufficient to make a kimono. 14 inches wide x approx 11-12 yards long. Kasuri (Ikat) is a technique in which warp yarns, weft yarns, or both are mounted on a frame, and then bound in thread (tied to prevent dye penetration, i.e. tie dyed) and then dip-dyed. The threads are then dried and loosened, and then carefully woven on a loom to form the pattern. The variabilities in alignment yield a soft fuzziness at the edges of the motifs characteristic of the technique.
