Silk Kasuri Full Bolt Japanese Kimono Fabric
Silk Kasuri Full Bolt Japanese Kimono Fabric
$100.00
Kasuri (Ikat) is a technique in which warp yarns, weft yarns, or both are mounted on a frame, and then bound in thread (tied to prevent dye penetration, i.e. tie dyed) and then dip-dyed. The threads are then dried and loosened, and then carefully woven on a loom to form the pattern. The variabilities in alignment yield a soft fuzziness at the edges of the motifs characteristic of the technique.
A full bolt of Japanese kimono fabric is approximately 14” wide (based on a traditional size loom) and 11-12 yards long. A small square has been cut from the leading edge of the bolt. Abstract pattern, very modern feeling reference to nature. Lovely fabric. Please note that a small swatch has been cut out of this otherwise full bolt.
